Itential FlowAI Named a Gartner Coolest Vendor Innovation in Agentic AI for Enterprise Networking

FlowAI is one of five products named in the first Coolest Vendor Innovations report for enterprise networking, recognized for combining agentic reasoning with deterministic implementation controls.

ATLANTA, July 29, 2026 – Itential, the agentic operations platform for infrastructure, today announced that FlowAI has been named one of five products in Gartner® Coolest Vendor Innovations in Agentic AI for Enterprise Networking, published July 14, 2026. The research is the first in Gartner’s relaunched Coolest Vendor Innovations series to examine enterprise networking and identifies the product innovations its analysts find most compelling in addressing the hardest problems in agentic NetOps: reasoning accuracy, hallucination risk, unpredictable AI costs, and the guardrails required to act on production networks.

According to the research,

FlowAI is cool because it enables network teams to improve agility without compromising stability via combining agentic reasoning with deterministic implementation controls.

Gartner projects that by 2030, AI agents will be the most common approach for executing network runtime activities, up from less than 1% in early 2026. The research notes that scaled enterprise adoption requires combining probabilistic reasoning with deterministic implementation – without guardrails, agents engage in directionless execution.

FlowAI, the agentic harness of the Itential Platform, reached general availability in July 2026. FlowAgents are built from natural language skills that define purpose, scope, and guidelines before an agent ever runs, use tools from an authorized list, and execute through the Itential Platform – which handles runtime execution deterministically across hybrid, multivendor infrastructure. Model Context Protocol (MCP) server and gateway functionality enables FlowAgents to call external MCP servers and exposes the platform to external agents, all under the same governance.

Gartner’s research reflects what we hear from enterprise infrastructure teams every day: the value of agentic AI depends entirely on whether it can be trusted to act on production systems. Being named a Coolest Vendor Innovation validates that Itential’s FlowAI was engineered for exactly that requirement. A decade of deterministic orchestration came first, and FlowAI brings agentic reasoning to that same foundation of execution and governance our customers already trust.

The research identifies what makes agentic software viable on enterprise networks: deterministic guardrails that comply with enterprise policy, often referred to as an agentic harness, granular, enterprise-specific context, and disciplined AI economics. FlowAI is engineered to each requirement:

  • Agentic reasoning paired with deterministic execution.
FlowAgents reason and plan, but the Itential Platform carries out every change through predictable, governed automation, with the same RBAC, approval gates, audit trails, and rollback applying to humans, workflows, and agents alike.
  • Natural language skills that scope every agent.
Skills define purpose, scope, and guidelines before an agent ever runs, and agents act only through tools from an authorized list – granular, enterprise-specific context by design.
  • Agents that convert into workflows.
When a FlowAgent proves out an approach, spec-driven development converts it into a deterministic workflow, so repeatable work stops consuming probabilistic reasoning and costs stay predictable as adoption grows.

A Year of Gartner Recognition

Itential was named a Gartner Cool Vendor in Network Automation in 2022. The Coolest Vendor Innovations recognition renews that distinction and adds to a broad body of 2026 Gartner coverage naming Itential across the categories defining agentic infrastructure operations:
