Apache Airflow – Studio Project

Studio Project workflows for Apache Airflow DAG scheduling and monitoring

Apache Airflow is an open-source platform for programmatically authoring, scheduling, and monitoring workflows as directed acyclic graphs (DAGs).

This project provides OpenAPI specs for automating against the Airflow stable REST API via an Integration Model. The -latest spec is a curated subset covering common CRUD for automation — see OpenAPIs below.

Table of Contents

Contents

Asset Description
OpenAPIs/ Apache Airflow REST API OpenAPI specs — curated -latest plus the full dated spec
Studio Projects/Apache Airflow 26 workflows covering common CRUD automation

Requirements

Requirement Version
Itential Platform 6.x
Apache Airflow 2.5.1
Apache Airflow Integration Model Required to build automation against the OpenAPI specs

Integration Configuration

Import one of the OpenAPI specs from OpenAPIs/ as an Integration Model in Admin > Integrations, then create an integration pointing at your Airflow webserver.

Authentication is HTTP Basic — an Airflow username and password:

Authorization: Basic <base64(username:password)>

Create or manage the account under the Airflow UI's Admin > Users.

The instance's authentication/server properties should look like this once configured:

{
  "authentication": {
    "Basic": {
      "username": "<your-username>",
      "password": "<your-password>"
    }
  },
  "server": {
    "protocol": "https",
    "host": "apache.local",
    "base_path": "/api/v1"
  }
}

Studio Projects

Apache Airflow Project

Backed by the Apache Airflow:latest Integration Model (see apache_airflow-latest.json above). The project contains 26 workflows organized into 6 folders, one atomic workflow per API operation, covering the common-CRUD subset of the curated spec.

Folder Structure

Folder Workflows Scope
DAGs List, Get, Update, Delete DAG DAG lifecycle and pause/unpause
DAG Runs List, Get, Create, Update, Delete DAG Run DAG run triggering and state management
Task Instances List, Get Task Instance Task instance inspection
Connections List, Get, Create, Update, Delete Connection Connection management
Pools List, Get, Create, Update, Delete Pool Worker pool management
Variables List, Get, Create, Update, Delete Variable Variable management

Dependencies

Dependency Notes
Apache Airflow:latest Integration Model Import from apache_airflow-latest.json before importing the project
Apache Airflow integration instance Create in Admin > Integrations with the connection properties above. Workflows are wired to an integration instance named Apache Airflow — update the adapter_id value in each workflow task if yours is named differently
